Back on Two Wheels

Saturday, with the weather in the upper to mid 60s, my wife and I took our daughter for a little bike ride. Neither of us has probably been on a bike since she was born and she's 3-1/2 years old! It had been way too long.

We left our house about 1PM, heading towards the Galloway Creek Greenway. Meeting up with it at it's start off of Seminole. Then headed south towards Seqiuota Park. We stopped at the park for a while, let the kiddo play, then headed on down the trail to Galloway Station for lunch and a pint on their back porch area. It sits right on the greenway trail and you can kick back and watch bikes, dogs, people, etc. pass by as you eat.

On the way back, we stopped at the playground of a nearby elementary school and then it was back to the house just before sunset.

It was a great day. The munchkin had a blast. She kept telling me to go faster and that we were the fastest bike riders, ever! Shouting, "Woohoooo!" around every bend of the trail and "Echoooooo!" as we went under the Battlefield Tunnel. But, not having ridden a bike in a few years, plus towing 55lbs of kid and trailer behind my bike for 7.5-8 miles, had my legs feeling like rubber towards the end. Not a bad thing, though. Well worth the energy and $60 spent on a secondhand kid trailer off of Craigslist.
