Kayak - James River/Springfield Lake - June 11, 2014
The water was high and murky with river silt and rain runoff, but it was nice to get out for a few hours. We even managed to explore pretty far up Galloway Creek and into Springfield Conservation Nature Center.
Entering Galloway Creek and Springfield Conservation Nature Center. Normally you can't go very far up the creek without bottoming out.
Back into the main lake.
Aside from the doe and fawn in the earlier pic, we also saw plenty of small birds like the purple martins that criss-crossed the water eating bugs and some large birds like blue herons, turkey vultures and this turkey roosting in a tree.
It was a great evening to be out, especially after all the rain we've had over the past month. Getting a break from it to hit the water was a blessing.
